How we work together

Our work together is grounded in seeing you as a whole-person, with multiple avenues toward wellness. We’ll consider the mind, body, spirit, emotions, and environment as interconnected facets of your life and pathways to growth.

My therapy approach is grounded in the belief that you are the expert of your own story. You know yourself best. You possess an innate understanding of yourself, and my role is to help you reconnect to your inner wisdom, listen to it deeply, and access resources for healing and growth.

Some optional offerings in our sessions might include Art Therapy or Eco Therapy.

What to Expect in our sessions:

You can expect a warm, caring, and non-judgmental space where your voice will be heard. My priority is to build a partnership where you feel safe to be yourself, without fear of criticism or rejection. Together, we will explore what you want from therapy and create meaningful goals to help you get there. While every journey is unique, many clients start noticing positive changes within the first five sessions.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy for Anxiety and Stress

Mindfulness-based therapy for anxiety is focused on building a new relationship with your inner experience. In our work together, mindfulness helps you notice anxious thoughts without getting swept away by them, so you can shift from reacting to responding. This approach is supported by a growing body of research showing mindfulness-based interventions can reduce anxiety and stress and strengthen emotional resilience.

Because anxiety is often physically experienced we’ll also integrate nervous system regulation tools for anxiety (simple, practical skills that help your body recognize safety again). When your nervous system has been stuck in fight/flight/freeze for a long time, it makes sense that reassurance, logic, or “trying harder” doesn’t always work. Somatic regulation skills help bring your system back into balance so you can think more clearly, feel more grounded, and tolerate uncertainty with more ease.

Depending on what fits you, we may weave in tools like Breath practices for downshifting stress, Grounding + orienting, Mindful body awareness, Self-compassion practices, Values-based coping skills, and Nature-based mindfulness.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a type of therapy that helps the brain and nervous system process distressing experiences so they feel less raw and less activating over time. Many of us can understand what happened, yet still feel it stuck and activated in the body or getting emotionally “pulled back” into old moments. EMDR uses gentle, structured methods to support the mind and body in reprocessing stuck memories, reducing triggers, and creating more space for steadiness, self-trust, and relief. You are in control of the pace, and you don’t need to share every detail of the experience for the work to be effective.

"I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way – things I had no words for."

- Georgia O'Keeffe

Art Therapy

Some of us resonate deeply with pictures, colors, sensations, movement, symbols and metaphors - and we may struggle to translate our inner experience into words. Art Therapy is an active process that provides another avenue for self-expression, allowing you to convey and explore your emotions, perspectives and experiences wordlessly. The art-making process itself may also inherently promote relaxation, less anxiety, and soothe an active nervous system. Any age can benefit and no art experience is necessary to participate in this type of therapy.

"Between every two pines is a doorway to a new world"

- John Muir

Ecotherapy

Ecotherapy (also referred to as nature-based therapy or ecological psychotherapy) recognizes that humans are a part of nature, and when we improve our connection with the natural world, we experience more health and balance. It is based upon the growing evidence that time spent in nature - even looking out a window or handling natural objects, is therapeutic. Our nervous system is biologically wired to relax easier when we are in proximity to nature. Nature provides grounding experiences, easy opportunities for mindfulness, simple wisdom, and for most people, a deep sense of calm connectedness.
